Actually, this little trick had nothing to do with NLP and was not an original idea. The most famous account of this was in the early 1900's, long before chess computers arrived on the scene, whereby an amateur arranged several correspondence chess matches (chess by mail) against masters and boasted an even score. Brown's version requires nothing more than a reasonably good memory, to be able to relay a move played on one board to another.
I could line up 9 Derren Browns and beat them all at the same time easily, which would be a more impressive trick than what he did.
