Avoid Fat Soluble Vitamin Deficiencies After Gastric Bypass Surgery

Posted Oct 25 2008 4:48pm
Dr. Stephen Bittiker has noticed that a year or two after a patient has Gastric Bypass Surgery, they have developed fat soluble vitamin deficiencies. He suggests mixing lecithin in with their food to emulsify the fat soluble vitamins. He strongly suggested using only lecithin granules derived from non-genetically modified soybeans. Vitamin A, D, E, and K are fat soluble vitamins. Classic fat soluble vitamin deficiencies can show up as:
  • flakey skin
  • hair starts to fall out
  • dark circles under the eyes
  • lack of energy
  • bruise easily
  • latharic
  • cloudy thinking
Dr. Bittiker also recommends these patients take a digestive enzyme and a probiotic.
