Is Apple Cider Vinegar and Weight Loss Related?
Apple Cider Vinegar is proposed to improve weight loss success by stimulating metabolism in the body, curb your appetite and aids in breaking down fats and fat deposits. Researchers have not conclusively proven that these products have any fat burning benefits.
There is no scientific proof that by ingesting apple cider vinegar prior to eating that it reduces cravings or your appetite. For many people the use of apple cider to promote weight loss has been effective. Other people have not had success with this method.

You can purchase apple cider vinegar at health food stores, your grocery store and even on the internet. It is well advertised for its health benefits. It is available in liquid or pill form and for weight loss purposes is to be taken prior to meals.
If you read literature closely on the advertisements of many products where apple cider vinegar is used for weight loss you will see that the product by itself does not cause you to lose weight. It is to be combined with a sensible diet and exercise program for effectiveness.
Apple Cider Vinegar and Weight Loss Not Scientifically Proven
One study was done on mice using acetic acid which is the primary ingredient in vinegar. During the study it was shown that the mice developed 10% less body fat than those not given the compound. It is thought that the acetic acid may activate genes that produce proteins in our body to help break down fat. Note that they developed less fat, they didn’t lose fat. More research and a larger study are needed to confirm whether vinegar has fat burning benefits.
Other studies have been conducted on animals and a few on small groups of humans but no conclusive evidence has been determined to promote the claims of apple cider vinegar and weight loss effectiveness.
Apple cider vinegar does offer some health benefits and has minimal side effects. Long term use of apple cider vinegar does increase possible health risks. Some of these risks include low potassium levels and decreased bone density, damage to tooth enamel and the digestive tract due to the high acidity of vinegar, and it can interfere with other medications you are taking. Check with your doctor before using apple cider vinegar if you are taking medications or have chronic illnesses.
