We’re pleased to announce the arrival of the new full color posters for the 2011 Traditions In Western Herbalism Conference, and to make them available to you now.
There are 2 size posters once again, the regular 8.5×11”, and the extra large 11×17”. One of their intended purposes is to find their way to the windows and walls of herb stores and schools, to bring this folky grass roots conference to the attention of plant loving and health conscious folks who may not usually attend other events. Given how few stores are willing to hang something that big, we almost ordered only the smaller version… but it seems there are a lot of you who like to keep them up on your own walls as art or decoration, and some who say you expect TWHC to become a long term tradition and want a chance to collect posters from every year that you attend. Now you can have both!
And I did indeed give as much time to crafting the posters as I usually do when creating a drawing or painting. My idea was to keep the general look the same each year for continuity’s sake, while adjusting its appearance in subtle but noticeable ways. The same each time, is the overall background, a gorgeously marked cliff photographed on the Blue River near our Gila wildlands sanctuary. But while in 2010 its colors are reddish and true to the rock, for 2011 I have given them a greenish tint instead. For the first time, I placed a photo of each of the dozen Featured Presenters among the outer ring of Kiva’s and my herbal portraits, prompting me to start a second inner, staggered row of those herbs which would have otherwise been replaced or covered up. The year of the conference also appears for the first time with 2011, with enlarged logos of our increasing number of event Sponsors on the 11×17.
Here’s how you can get yours.
