I've had wrist pain over the past couple months. It hurts worst when I try to lift something or move my thumb. It is sore and feels swollen but doesnt have the appearence, and when I try to hold anything or put pressure on it sometimes it feels as if I had broken my wrist although I know differently. I've purchased and used the over the counter hand braces that hold ur thumb in place but it seems to make it even stiffer and the pressure of simple having it on is very painful. I do NOT have any medical insurance nor a job so I feel that it is hopeless
I don't mean to turn this post into a look at me kind of deal but on my blog, I've written a post describing where/how to look for medical care when you don't have a job or insurance. There are many places to go to get reasonable care for little or no monies. It just takes a little sleuthing (assuming you live in the States!).
As for your thumb, de Quervain's tenosynovitis and even gamekeeper's thumb come to mind immediately. These are tendon injuries that take a long time to heal. Of course, your pain may be due to something else. But that's why it's important for you to go see someone soon. Good luck!
