If your testicles are sore and painful, you may have a infection, trauma, injury or other condition.
If you do not have a hernia then it could be one of the following:
* Varicocele – varicose veins. About eight per cent of men have varicose veins of the scrotum. Varicocele is most common on the left-hand side of the scrotum, due to the arrangement of the veins on that side.
* Epididymo-orchitis – infection of the epididymis, testicle or both that causes inflammation and pain. Treatment includes antibiotics.
* Testicular torsion – the cord that attaches the testicle to the body twists and cuts off the blood supply. This extremely painful condition needs urgent medical attention.
Voice your concerns with your doctor for a close exam, tell him about the soreness, for a correct diagnosis. No sex or masterbation until you see your doctor.

About 5 weeks ago my left testicle started to become sore, after about a week the pain went away. Just about a week ago the pain started to come back. I went to my doctor to get a sports physical because i play basketball, when he did the hernia check he didnt say anything so i didn't tell him about the soreness. The sore testicle seems to be hanging a little lower than the other. It's only a little bit of soreness not excruciating pain like the symptoms of testicular torsion. Should i be concerned? Would sex and masterbation worsen things?
