When I first began in 1996 there were very few people who were in Christian ministry reaching out to those with chronic illness. A few amazing organization existed like Joni and Friends and Friendship Ministries, but for those with illnesses like rheumatoid arthritis or fibromyalgia, the harvest was plentiful but the workers were few (Luke 10:2) Janet Dauble was one of the few.
It is with personal sorrow that I recently found out about her passing. It is with personal joy that I know she is no longer suffering.
I don’t even recall where we first met. It was some sort of event and she took me out for a drink–as in an iced tea. She listened to my dreams for Rest Ministries and encouraged me to follow them. Her ministry, Share, Care, and Praye r and it reached out to those with chemical sensitivities. It was around this time I first became aware of how many people suffered in such extreme ways because of anything from carpet cleaner to dryer sheets.
The Share, Care and Prayer web site states:
Share, Care and Prayer, Inc. is a nonprofit Christian organization serving thousands of people suffering with . Epidemiologic studies have shown that up to 30% of the population is experiencing sensitivity to everyday chemicals and common foods with up to 6% seriously sensitive. Of course, since so many chronically ill people do not notice that they are sensitive and would have to be tested to find out if that is what is causing their health problems, the percentage of sensitive population is a lot higher. While mainstream medicine does not know about the reality of sensitivity causing a myriad of symptoms, it does not believe it, or it chooses to ignore it, there is a wealth of information and excellent medical care available.
According to the site, Janet Dauble found out from a in 1979 that she was severely food sensitive. Elimination of her food allergens alleviated her many painful, disabling, and debilitating symptoms (click on the Founder’s link for Janet’s Story). Janet began to help other people with their chronic health problems. She began a small local support group in Arcadia, CA in January of 1983 for Christian women. The group quickly grew to include men and non Christians. At the time of her passing it is estimated to have been reaching out to over 4000 individuals, and I expect, the numbers are much higher.
I always looked forward to Janet’s newsletter that was printed more like a journal magazine style. It was packed with articles, resources, testimonials and more. Janet never took the fame or glory and always put everything she had, time, money, finances and personal energy (or lack of) into Share, Care, and Prayer, Inc.
Janet, you will be missed my dear friend. I am sure there were many days you felt like you were just one person who was trying to change the world and not getting much cooperation. . . but to many people, you were their world.

Janet Dauble, went to be with the Lord on January 25, 2011, after a short battle with cancer. Janet was born in Pasadena June 19, 1942, to Karl and Margaret Dauble. In 1984, she became the founder and CEO of Share, Care and Prayer, Inc, a nonprofit organization which ministered to the physical and spiritual needs of the environmentally ill (EI).
Janet lived in the mountain community of Frazier Park where she attended the Evangelical Free Church. She is survived by her brother and his wife, Bill and Diane, and a nephew, Cory, his wife Michele, and their sons, Shawn, Ryan, and Aaron . She was preceded in death by her niece, Nicole. A memorial service will be held in Frazier Park on February 12. Burial is at Mountain View Cemetery in Altadena.
Because Janet suffered from severe allergies, she had a God-given love and empathy for other EIs and dedicated her life to tirelessly, passionately, and sacrificially counsel, educate, and help people throughout the U.S. with severe health problems caused by food, chemical, and environmental allergies. Janet’s spiritual wisdom, her extensive knowledge of environmental health issues, and her activism on behalf of those with environmental illness will be deeply missed by the many hundreds who knew her and benefited by her loving counsel and practical help.
