I am 67 years old but in excellent shape--basketball, run and work out all the time--5'8" and 133 pounds. Within the last few days this pain has suddenly appeared out of nowhere. We were out doing nothing that required any exertion, and when we got back in the car and I started driving, tremendous pain shot down my right leg, especially around the top of the ankle. I have had a mild strain deep in my right glute for the last few weeks, waking up with it but it going away shortly thereafter. I can still walk, run, play basketball or do anything ambulatory without any problems, but sitting down, especially to drive, can be torture. I want to get rid of the cause of the pain, not just the pain itself. Any ideas?
