My son had hernia surgery 2-1/2 years ago and suffers pain from the mesh. What can we do

Posted by fshcop

My now 19 year old son had hernia surgery 2-1/2 years ago, right lower qadrant. The mesh they used to re-connect the tissue connected with abdominal muscles/tissue, and he suffers chronic pain. That resulted in a prescription of oxycotin over time which led to an addiction, which we are still fighting. Given th pain, I think it will be difficult for him to recover from his addiction (he is in a treatment center now) as he will still be facing the same problem later. Is there a medical procedure that can be performed to reduce or eliminate the pain?

We tried a nerve injection in the spine and that did not work. We live in the San Francisco Bay area. Are there specialists you can refer me to?
