Lisa Is Accepted as Guest Writer at Huffington Post

huff post article Lisa Is Accepted as Guest Writer at Huffington Post

I did a little “happy dance” last week and called my mom. I had my first article published over at . If you are not familiar with The Huffington Post is one of the largest newspapers online and the woman behind it is Arianna Huffington. Millions of people visit the web site each day. After attending a recent conference I was given the opportunity to submit an article and I chose to write, “Does ‘Housewife’ Michaele Salahi’s Confession of MS Help or Hinder Illness Awareness Issues?.”

Now, for all the people out there who are asking, “That is not a Christian site, is it? Why would Lisa want her articles over there?” let me explain. Look at these statistics:

Do you think we are able to reach people who may have a chronic illness who do not know about the hope they can find in Christ? Yes.

Is my calling to reach out to those who are hurting who do not know the comfort of the Lord? Yes.

Did not Jesus preach beyond the walls of the synagogues on the shorelines, the valleys, and the dusty paths while walking from one place to another? Yes.

The conference I was at had people who were selling books on every kind of New Age topic. I don’t wish to offend, so let me generalize that I could have networked with people who could give sex tips, finding your destiny, talk to your dog (dead or alive) and how to worship a Yogi. A few of us who were Christians gathered up the information that we believed we could find helpful and use to grow God’s kingdom. . . and dreamed of what it would be to have such a conference with believers on the stage presenting these same tools to reach the multitudes,

Yes, it is a fine line to be “in” the world, but not “of” the world. (There is a great article on this here, “ In the World – But Not of the World “). Scripture tells us in Mark 16:15 “And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.”

As Christians, if we truly believe God has given us the message we need to preach it to someone other than just the choir, right?

And my article appeared on dozens of sites that syndicate The Huff Post; health web sites, news sites, even the Internet Movie Database (since the article involved a TV star.) I wonder. . .  what could God do with this?

So I will be committing to writing on a regular basis for The Huffington Post and my position is, “To God Be the Glory!” I hope you will “come on over” to the article links I will provide in the future under “Lisa Copen” at the Huffington Post and leave a comment. It helps the editors know that I can write on “hot topics” their readers are interested in, and it helps balance out the negative comments that I am sure to receive.

Thank you, my friends, for coming along on this journey!
