So, I do also have TMJD, which I assumed is what was causing this pain. Now, I'm not so sure. I'm concerned I am missing something else. I get these charlie horse type cramps in my cheek/jaw area. Excruciating! Until I had my daughter, I had just a light case of TMJD. After her rather violent birth, a lot of changes happened. My jaw seems to be much more crooked then ever. I had a lot of problems with fatigue (thought that was allergies, now not so sure.) The fatigue has since gotten better. I had daily headaches for well over a year before I found out they were from the TMJD. Now that I'm in physical therapy for that, these new face cramps have started. I also have scoliosis, problems with stress/anxiety/relaxing (ha!) and insomnia. So I'm a bit of a walking mess. I am currently between family doctors and am waiting for an appointment with a new dentist. The one oral surgeon I saw said my jaw was so severely crooked that he wanted to do surgery (read: break it). I am desperate to avoid surgery!
I would be really greatful for any suggestions anyone has. I am just starting to do my research on chronic pain and jaw issues. There's so much information to go through. Oh yay, more stress! lol
Oh - I do already take Flexeril and an anti-inflammatory for the pain. The Flexeril often does the trick, but not on the more severe days.
