I have EXTREME PAIN right where my rib cage meets, it is my "stomach tube", what could be the cause of this pain?

I am having EXTREME PAIN right where my rib cage meets, however, it feels more like its my "stomach tube"....if i press on the area it hurts more on the inside and for about an inch or two down leading to my stomach....I have taken EVERYTHING over the counter I can think of, like antacids....pain is so bad i want to leave work....PLEASE ADVISE, ASAP...THANK YOU!!
