can simvastatin cause weakness in legs, loss of hair and tiredness? My mother has been taking it for 2 yrs and for the last yr.

I noticed by reading some internet info, that this drug does have these side effects. What cholesterol drug would you suggest, that does not cause these side effects. They are all new and not normal  for her. She is 83 but has been healthy and eats well, and has always walked. She tried to go to the gym for help to strengthen her legs to no avail. She walks around stores like walmart with a cart, and it has not helped.  Her legs are like jello!
