I have fibromyalgia and have constant pain. What is the best help for this condition?

Posted by amie.brodersen7

I have pain throughout my whole body, especially my muscles and connective tissues. I also have migraines and tension headaches and the doctors just keep throwing pills at me, and I don't get any better. I've tried just about everything I've heard of for helping fibromyalgia and nothing works. The best help I've had so far is acupuncture and chinese herbs, but I have not been able to get in touch with my acupuncturist, so I feel helpless and alone with my health problems. I don't want to be over-medicated, especially since the pills don't really help me get better, they just give temporary relief from symptoms. I'm only 28 and I've been dealing with this since I was a teen. It gets worse the older I get. Any suggestions would be gladly accepted.

I have fibro too, and am on Lyrica and Cymbalta for pain now.  The Lyrica seems to help a bit.  But one thing that really helped my headaches was going on the gluten free diet.  I used to get horrible migraines and since I've been gluten free I rarely get headaches.

Have you ever tried eliminating gluten before?  It's not easy to do, because gluten can hide in all sorts of products, especially in condiments, sauces, and flavorings.  But it might be worth trying....just a suggestion.

I hope you feel better soon!

I have fibro too and have tried oodles of various treatments.  Unfortunately with an illness like fibromyalgia it is a game of trial and error.  What works for one person may not work for another.  The best medication I have found is Savella.  It is a relatively new FDA approved treatment for fibro and honestly it has made my pain so much better!  I had to bump to 100mg twice a day but since then I don't have nearly the joint pain that I had before taking it.  It may be worth checking out!  Now if only we could figure out how to get rid of the reminant scar-tisse/endo pain, I will be in business!
