This week the weather has taken a turn for the better, gradually warming up to give us a run of days that really feel like Summer. The Dale is utterly beautiful at the moment and it has been a joy to show it to AJ's parents who are visiting for a few days. This has also coincided with a Little R weekend, so we have our hands full.
I had a busy week. Counselling on Tuesday and a big challenge on Wednesday. I've joined another art group which has been set up by a charity to make and sell art. To join you have to have had recent contact with mental health services. The idea is you take part in a workshop facilitated by a worker and/or another service user. It is supposed to be very enabling, so you can get paid for facilitating and maybe sell some work. I was very anxious about going because it meant an early start and a longish drive. By the time I got there I was already fried. They have a little bolt hole where you can go and lie down if you feel a bit overwhelmed so I made use of that. It was OK, I made a flower out of wire, but however they dressed it up, it still felt like Occupational Therapy. I'll go again next week.
I'm holding up fairly well with the extra activity. I've noticed an increase in my muscle pain and I feel much more fatigued, which is all to be expected. I could have done without visitors this week, however lovely it is to see them. I really get annoyed that, because my gender is female, I get to do the shopping, the washing, the preparing and seeing to people's needs. If I don't do it, nobody eats. Some parts of it I love to do as I like to nurture. AJ does his part, but I still feel as if the domestic stuff is my domain in the relationship and he's 'helping' me. This has always been a source of massive resentment for me, not just recently. So I can get doubly tired when I'm preparing a meal for five people at the same time as pushing down all that annoyance. He says 'I'm tired too.' Pah and piffle. He does not know the meaning of the word. Other stresses this week. I've lost my mobile phone. No one is using it, so it hasn't been stolen, unless they've replaced the SIM. Grrr.
AJ's Mother is arty crafty too, and I took her along to our local Craft Club last night. We were outside, it was such a beautiful evening. It was wonderful to see the sharing of ideas, the passing on of skills and the mutual encouragement. Bliss.
This morning the day promises to be very hot and I ache from head to foot. I may just duck out of family fun and do some Serious Nothing.
