Posted Jan 08 2011 12:00am

I found this interesting as I was watching the webcasts of th e Institute of Medicine of the National Academies Webcast. A Workshop on the Critical Needs and Gaps in Understanding Prevention, Amelioration, and Resolution of Lyme and Other Tick-borne Diseases: the Short-Term and Long-Term Outcomes

Blood transfusion transmission of babesiosis

The most commonly reported transfused pathogen in the US.

More than 70 cases described with 10% - 20% mortality.

Transmitted by whole blood, Packed RBCs, platelets

Largely under reported, more suspected.

Perhaps there are people out there who have been diagnosed with ME/CFS who have babesiosis?? Have you had a blood transfusion in the US???

That's all for now.

Treya : )
