Sitting here with ears buzzing and achy knees but it was worth it. I helped a friend with his bonfire yesterday afternoon. Well, I say 'helped', I threw a few bits of twig on and made a cup of tea.
It was one of those Spring days. I was just looking at Renee's blog. She asks, 'What is it about Spring that gives us that extra bounce in our step?' I know I always greet Spring with utter joy; more light, an end to those chilling winds, sunshine, lighter clothing. Then there's the birdsong, the waking of Nature. Fabulous.
Spring has extra meaning for me this year, it's a metaphor for my recovery. However, I don't expect to be fully back to normal by this Summer. It may take two or three Springs. My ME didn't start suddenly with a virus. It was a long, slow onset with a final collapse after a last straw event. I expect my recovery to be long and slow with setbacks. But what joy to be free of the long dark winter of chronic illness.
