Returned from Mexico with intestinal and stomach problems, rolling and gurgling stomach, gas and diarrhea going on 8 weeks. Tests - blood and stool samples, reveal nothing out of the ordinary - no parasites, giardia, c.diff, campylobacter, salmonella, shigella, yersinia, E coli, vibrio, aeromonas and pleisimonas. subsequent CT scan of abdomen/pelvis revealed nothing unusual. Now taking Flagyl, 500mg 2x daily - supposed to take it 10 days but after 7 days it feels like the cure is as bad as the disease. After initial improvement, I now have low-grade nausea and fatigue though the diarrhea situation has improved (but is not gone). I want to stop the Flagyl now and test if the situation improves. Any thoughts?
I've had the exact same thing for the past two weeks after returning from Mexico. Have you found a solution yet? My friends dad took 6 months before he was back too normal.
