For people suffering with chronic illness their days can be filled with loneliness and fear. But now, because of the Internet, many of these people are able to find support and understanding online. And by sharing experiences (both good and bad), with others who may have felt they were all alone in the world, people with chronic illness are beginning to find a sense of community and hope.

This is going to be a post about “cyber” connecting, and finding support and information online, when you suffer with chronic illness. I’m hoping to help those of you who might be feeling sad or alone, find support and compassion from others that are feeling just as you.

Many people are using YouTube to reach out to others. For the people who make these videos it’s a way to both express what they are going through, and let others know they are not alone. Talking is great therapy for anyone suffering with illness, and YouTube lets people have an intimate dialog with many. Even if you can’t make a video, anyone can add written comments in response. It really is amazing how many people are using YouTube to talk about how they are living with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyagia.
