Let’s Be Part Of History: One Click ME Appeal

Posted Sep 28 2008 9:17pm

Update. As at 09.26 am UK local time, Wednesday 24 October 2007, the Fighting Fund total is now £6,581.

It should be £6,601 because I pledged £20. *proud grin*

Do you think we can make it to £20,000 by 5th of November? I really really hope so. In England itself, there are 250,000 people live with ME/CFS. If each one pledges £1, we can easily make the target. I know not everyone can fork out little money. But there should be friends and family of sufferers, not mention number of people living with ME/CFS worldwide… And there are even more people who are serious about human rights protection.

If you are generous person and usually donate to Cancer Foundation, Leukaemia Foundation, Red Cross and other major charity organisation, please use the money to this cause, just for once. I’m not saying that those charities are not important. But I can tell you that you will know exactly how the money is spent and you will see the impact on your generosity, if you donate your money for this cause. And we only have one chance.

Hopefully, history will be made and you can tell with pride that you were part of it. I’m not saying that this will give us solution and cure. But the way I see is that this will be a beginning of changing attitude towards people living with ME/CFS in all over the world. Eventually, more people will be committed to help us, fund researches that will give us hope for unravelling the mystery of the illness, discovering effective management and cure. And medical society will pay more attention to little researches done so far with little funding and donations. Then, nobody will dream about causing more harm to us by forcing the notorious GET and CBT

You don’t have to give money right now. So you still have some time to save maybe £5. If you are living in overseas, you can give the money by credit card. Transaction should be easy. I did a little bit of homework. £5 is around AU$12 and around US$10.

However, it is very important that you will decide on the commitment before the 5 th of November and send the following email to them. If they do not have commitment of £20,000 before the due date, they cannot proceed with the Judicial Review challenge. Please send the email today, and you can start saving the money you pledged by the time they ask you to forward it.

If my ME brain counted right, we have only 10 days till the due date.

Below the following email example, I attached the flyer from One Click Group so that you can click on link to find out more details.

If you are living with severe ME/CFS and don’t have energy, you can link your email or blog to http://www.theoneclickgroup.co.uk, or to my blog.

If you have already pledged, or you are thinking about it, I would like to hear from you how you feel about the challenge.

2.  HOW TO DONATE - LEGAL APPEAL, NICE JUDICIAL REVIEW.
Update. As at 09.26 am UK local time, Wednesday 24 October 2007, the Fighting Fund total is now £6,581. We are over a quarter of the way to reaching our target. Many patients are so ill and have perforce lost their jobs that they are only able to contribute £10. Some individuals and organisations are thankfully in a position to be far more generous and have been. This sum total so far represents a considerable achievement by all. Thank you!

3.  Putting our money where our mouths are?
John Sayer writes: “Many have been calling for many years for some kind of legal action to help redress our current plight. I take it that folk are getting behind this initiative. Especially the charities.”

4.  Dr Sarah Myhill - GMC Hearing Cancelled!
It gives The One Click Group great pleasure today to announce that Dr Sarah Myhill’s Fitness To Practice Hearing has been cancelled by the General Medical Council (GMC).  Through patient power and hard work, the GMC has been forced to abandon its plans.  Dr Myhill writes:  “I have just heard from the General Medical Council that they are dropping all the allegations against me.  There is no doubt that a large part of that reason is because of the many wonderful letters that patients have written to the GMC on my behalf. There are many other issues that have arisen out of this GMC issue, not least of all is how badly many of my patients have been dealt with by the GMC.”

5.  Law & Autism Cases Skyrocket.
Barbara Loe Fisher from the National Vaccine Information Center featured on the ‘Today Show’ in the USA says:  “I have been a vaccine safety activist for 25 years and I have never seen the public debate about the right of parents to make informed, voluntary vaccination decisions be more intense than it is today. According to the most recent report released this past week by California’s Department of Developmental Services (DDS), California’s developmental services system added a record 1,060 new intakes of professionally diagnosed full syndrome DSM IV autism during the 87 day period from July 3, 2007 to October 3, 2007….a rate of 12 new children a day, seven days a week….. or one new child every two hours.”

6.  PHARMAGEDDON - Project Development News.
Charles Medawar from Social Audit Ltd writes:  “The Allen Lane Foundation has just awarded Social Audit a grant of £10,000 (€15,000) to explore Pharmageddon - ‘the prospect of a world in which medicines and medicine produce more ill-health than health, and when medical progress does more harm than good.’ This grant supports a project that aims to grow sufficiently to establish whether or not the risk of Pharmageddon might be real; and whether the reality is capable of being understood, in the face of perhaps implacable and overwhelming resistance.”

7.  8 More Deaths Linked to Gardasil HPV Vaccine.

Vera Hassner Sharav from the AHRP writes:  “Only after filing a lawsuit against the FDA was Judicial Watch able to uncover New FDA Records Detailing an additional 8 deaths among an additional 1,824 Adverse Reaction Reports Related to Gardasil, Merck’s Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccine between May 10, 2007 and Sept. 7, 2007.”  Dr Diane M. Harper, the lead investigator of the HPV vaccine trial, stated:  “”Giving it to 11-year-olds is a great big public health experiment. There is also not enough evidence gathered on side effects to know that safety is not an issue.”  Sharav continued:  “Why should citizens have to sue the FDA before obtaining vital information about lethal medical products that carry the FDA seal of approval?”
