Caffeine Withdrawal

Posted Oct 14 2009 10:02pm
When we were away last week I was drinking much less coffee and have decided to seize the moment and try and stop altogether. Some time ago I tried to reduce. See post Caffeine Rocks. I was mostly successful, staying at two cups in the morning. Recently though my Coke habit (as in Coca-cola, not the other kind) was picking up.

I've noticed definite improvements in my health lately - despite the pelvic infection from which I am bouncing back. I'm much more resilient. I don't so much crash, as fade. Half an hour's rest brings me back again. I'm thinking anything that I can do to help my body will be good right now. Caffeine is the last bastion of my addictive personality. This, folks, is hard.

Good - I'm sleeping better
Bad - my head hurts
Good - I'm peeing better
Bad - I'm SO bad tempered
Good - I don't have to kick start my system, I get going straight away in the morning.
Bad - Decaff Starbucks just doesn't taste the same.

Cocoa is my methadone. I have it without sugar and with soya milk but I like that so it's ok.
