When is a lie really a lie?

Posted Jun 13 2009 12:11am

The setup:

Time: 6:00 a.m.
Location: My bed then A's room
The event: I awoke to A calling for me. I wasn't sure what time it was, but it's still dark and we have a "no getting out of bed when it's dark policy". I go into her room and she heads back towards the bed. She tells me she checked and there are no cars outside (her window faces the street). So I tell her a lie - the cars don't run when it's dark outside. We get her all tucked back in and I leave the room.

Is this really a lie? I just want her to stay in bed until the sun starts coming up (say 7 a.m.). Maybe if she thinks the cars aren't out, she won't get out of bed? I don't know. I was desperate. I need my sleep!!
