What does Art Linkletter & Bill Cosby have in common?

Art Linkletter hosted a television program called "House Party" and a special segment in the program was "The Kids Say The Darndest Things".  If you were fortunate enough to see the "live" version of the show, or enjoy the reruns, the show was unscripted and the kids gave us one laugh after another by their remarks and stories.  We use to say "Oh, the poor parents".   Comedian Bill Cosby brought his version of the program back and once again we laughed at the kids.

Somewhere along the way kids were perceived as "silly and funny".  I have discovered that kids have a lot of serious thoughts and are trying to figure out this complicated world - sometimes by themselves.

Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, clergy people and friends all influence the thinking of the kids. It is an awesome responsibility.  Oh yes, did I mention television, videos and computers?  When I raised my kids there were no home computers or videos and television was restricted to Big Bird and Mister Rogers.  I remember when I was in the fourth grade my parents finally found the money to bring home a television - WOW.  Up to that point, mom would pop popcorn and we would sit around the radio and listen to the Long Ranger.  Ah, the simple life.

We are going to interview kids that are six through thirteen years old on this blog. When "The Kids Speak Out", we will laugh, cry, be challenged and be educated.
