what could cause swelling on the left side of your chest

my son is very athletic and lately he has had severe chest pains while running I have taken hm to his pediatrician (he is 13, 6'1, and weighs about 170) she does not hear anything wrong  he is going to a cardialogist in a week which seems like a life time so i was just doig some research
