my 5 month old has been on and off fevered for 3 weeks with no other symptoms

he started with a fever of 101.3 for 3 days and then has ranged from 98.6 to 100.3 for 3 weeks now with no other symptoms. the dotor says his ears,throat and chest look normal. He is eating huge amounts of food. drinking normally. no runny nose, no coughing, no irritability. sleeps well. what is wrong? what tests need to be done?
