Both my children (now 6 and 4) get stomach cramps when they have certain strains of the flu along with high fever. You can give him some diluted ginger/chamomile tea to help with the pain and also rub some lavender oil diluted in almond oil on his tummy to help soothe. If he is not vomiting and doesn't have diarrhoea then that is the likely cause. If he is very uncomfortable and looks visibly disturbed with the pain, please take him to the pediatrician.
