mouth problem

my three year old said his mouth hurt last night, today I looked in it and found one patch of white on the side of his tongue and three little red dots in the back of his mouth?  He still has a pacifire, could this be the problem? We brush his teeth one to two times a day.  I didnt know if it was a canker sore or what?
