Mitt Romney and American Medical Care

Posted Jun 03 2012 4:45pm

A woman who lives in La Jolla, California, not too far from Mr. Romney's 12 million dollar beach house, asked me what I thought would happen to U.S. medical care if he were elected president. I took a deep breath and said, " I think Mr. Romney and the Repulbicans will destroy the medical care we now have." He has endorsed the Ryan Plan which will eliminate Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, Planned Parenthood, and the Affordable Health Act. Even if the Supreme Court, by some great miracle, does not get rid of the Health Care Act, they will repeal it. Our nation's health care will slowly begin to be like that of a third world country with nurse practitioners, physicians' assistants, and aides taking over health care. The good doctors will retire and those who remain will see patients in an assembly-line fashion or allow their nurses to do much of the work and yet bill for their own time.

The 32 million people not covered by health insurance will be left out in the cold, insurance companies' rates will skyrocket, children with pre-existing conditions will no longer be covered by health insurance companies, insurance companies will be able to cancel policies if the medical costs are too large and students will no longer be able to stay on their parents' insurance until they are 26 eyars old. It will be a disaster!  We cannot allow Mr. Romney and the Republicans to win.
