Like Being on a Boat All Day Long

Posted Sep 16 2008 12:00am
Gavin continues to struggle with nausea ALL of the time. You can see him constantly fighting it off and eventually it overcomes him. I am amazed that he is pleasant even some of the time. Yet, he was in excellent spirits most of yesterday. He was silly and playing regardless. He just had to stop every now and then to fight nausea or vomit. It's such a sad cycle. No adult would handle such nausea this well! We're doing everything we can to get this under control. Any of you cancer moms out there with good suggestions, please feel free to share! You might know of something we haven't tried yet.

Someone had asked in the comments about how Jeff was doing. He's tired, but he's like the Energizer Bunny that keeps going and going and going. He works a full-time job (quite well, if you ask me!), plays like crazy with the boys in the evening, helps me out so much, and does immense research for Gavin's cancer in his "free time." I always thought he was a wonderful husband and father, unlike most. He continues to prove it. Life is tough, but he almost makes it look easy. I am thankful that we came into the world of cancer with a strong marriage. Cancer rocks a marriage to the core. (The divorce rate is 80% for those in our situation!) There are moments when we struggle to be nice to each other under the unbearable stress and lack of sleep. But, we're making it and will do everything we have to in order to make sure our family is intact when the cancer is gone. Prayers are always welcome in this department...

Much love,
Stacie
