how to treat a ear piercing infection

My almost 6 year old daughter had her earlobes pierced for the first time in late December.  We have only changed out the earrings a couple of times since the 8 wks was up for her to be allowed to change them.  Today I went to change the earrings as she is going to be in a wedding, and on both earlobes ( one worse than the other) she experienced pain and I realized that she had a whiteish yellow pus coming from the piercing hole.  Should I try to self treat or take her right to the doctors?
