How serious is the warning to not have your dog exercise after heartworm shots?

Posted by guitstuck

My 2 yr old rescue  I just adopted has heartworms.  He had his first shot 10 days ago.  He is supposed to be kennelled and only taken out for short walk only to relieve himself.  This is a feisty energetic mostly lab and I'm not sure I can hold him back without exercise for 6-8 weeks. Without release of all this energy he can be aggressive with another dog in the household.   What can I do?  Thanks,

Truly it is a serious thing as the heartworms are dying inside of your dog. There is a good reason your vet says to keep your dog quiet and confined. Can you walk your dog?
