high fever, vomitting, and burning/itchy palms and feet?

Posted by tamii

my daughter just turned 4. she woke up at 4am with a fever running between 102-103. alternating tylenol/motrin i can get it down to 101, but it hasn't broken any lower than that. about 8hrs after the fever began she starting vomitting. now, about 8hrs after the vomitting began she is waking up in her sleep screaming and crying that her palms and feet itch and hurt. she's scratching them like crazy. there are a bit red, but i assume that's just from the scratching. i haven't seen any other obvious rashes and she has not had any new foods/drinks recently. i thought it was just the flu, but the itchy hands and feet are really throwing me off. any thoughts? tia!

Hello Tamii, how frightening for you.  Just last night I actually called an ambulance because I woke up with very painful, intensely itchy pins and needles in my hands and feet.  I was so hot , my stomach hurt really bad and I immediately threw up. My heart was racing and I was worried that I was having a heart attack as Women's symptoms do not always include chest pains.  Any way the ambos were fantastic, checked me out and my heart seemed fine.  He said that my symptoms sounded like Crohn's disease, but possibally an inflammation of the bowel.  I have had some problems with Irritable Bowl and in particular wheat and diary products.  Guess what I had for dinner last night?  TOAST.  Darl try eliminating wheat from your little girl's diet for a while and see if that helps.  There is plenty of other stuff she can eat.  Read the labels.  Good luck!
