Fitness in Martial Arts for Children

Posted Jun 07 2011 5:40pm

Physical fitness is a problem that faces many children in the United States. Yes, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake and Suffolk fall into this category as well, with the popularity of television and video games over other more physical activities. Kids have their gym class at school and many of them do not get much physical activity outside of that environment. Children that become obese have a harder time losing that weight and developing healthy lifestyles as they get older. A great way for kids to stay in shape, while doing something they will enjoy, is having them take a martial arts course at Changing Lives Martial Arts in Virginia Beach, Chesapeake or Suffolk, Virginia.   At CLMA we have a number of benefits for children and physical fitness is one of the most important.

In our Karate for Kids classes, I stress the importance of fitness while practicing the martial arts. Martial arts courses help fight obesity in children by providing a strenuous physical activity for them to learn and practice. Kids want their exercise to be fun and learning martial arts lets the kids have a great time while learning to stay in shape. In order to successfully learn and apply martial arts, kids need to keep active and exercise. CLMA students learn how staying in shape will make them better at the martial arts in a very practical way while enhancing their skills in other activities.

Martial arts take a healthy heart along with a strong body and mind. Kids do not have to have these things to start because martial arts help them develop. Karate Kids at Changing Lives Martial Arts learn to properly care for and discipline their body and mind. They learn physical techniques that they will have fun doing while staying in shape. Fighting obesity is a big deal for many people and I stress fitness with all of our professional instructors as well as all of our students. My team of martial art instructors   teach the basic to advanced levels of training to the kids. At Changing Lives MA; exercises, stretching, martial arts techniques and much more are for them to practice inside and outside of the karate class. Martial arts are great for physical fitness and has changed the lives of so many people within our local community. We have been fighting obesity with kids since 1991 in Hampton Roads.
