Earth Day Nature Collage

Posted Apr 19 2013 8:57am

Friday mornings before music class have become our weekly craft time. Not to mention it seems like the past few Fridays have been cloudy or rainy, so a craft has definitely come in handy. Last week it was airplanes , today it was nature collages.

Since Spring has sprung and everything is starting to bloom in our yard, I decided it would be fun to have the boys collect some of the flowers, grasses, leaves, and ferns popping up and glue them to a piece of cardboard (from a diaper box) to bring a little nature indoors for Earth Day on Monday. This project was part scavenger hunt, part nature lesson, and part craft, which ended up being a good thing for keeping the attention of those easily distracted! We even talked about ways to “help” the Earth while making the collages – recycling, using reusable bags, turning off the lights, not using too much water, and using reusable water bottles.
