My daughter is 5 years old and everyday she seems to cough a lot. It has been going on for about a year now. Sometimes she will only cough a few times in an hour but other times she will cough 10 times or more in about 2 minutes. The cough is not a wet cough and no plem and it is always a very short single cough. A doctor said he thinks it is asthma so we have been giving her a puffer 2 - 3 times a day for about 3 weeks or so but it doesn't seem to help...atleast not much. The only medical stuff she has been through is she had a heart murmer until she was 2 and then had surgery. A year later the doctor checked her out and said the murmer is completely gone.
One thing I have noticed lately is that she coughs much more after running or getting excited. But that is not the only time she coughs. I'm concerned and hope someone out there can help determine the cause.
