By having the flu, can it produce a false elevated level of hemoglobin in a one year old or older?

Posted by mommy2008

December 1st my one year old got the flu and two weeks later she had some blood work done at her 2 year check up. One month later the results stated that she had an elevated hemoglobin level (14.4); she will be retested Jan 15th.  My daughter is very healthy, Is it possible that the flu may have produced this result?.  She did have medication to take and she had loss of appetite, vomiting and dehydration and she lost about a pound or two.

Thank you,

Concerened Mom
