BREAKING NEWS: Flu vaccine maker announces delay

Posted Oct 22 2008 9:30pm

Syringe98x86One of the leading flu vaccine manufacturers and only manufacturer of flu vaccine for children under age 3, Sanofi Pasteur, has announced that their flu vaccine distribution will be shipped later this year (likely November/ December) than in previous years due to a difficulty in the production process.
Usually flu vaccine is available in October and encouraged to be given well before flu season starts. Because flu season usually peaks in late December through March, it is still useful to vaccinate children in November and December.
Flu vaccine is recommended for all children from ages six months to five years of age, and children with chronic medical problems. It is encouraged for any child over age five. It is also recommended for all household contacts of young children.
Check in with your health care provider regarding their flu vaccine supply and availability.
