Thursday morning are OT mornings for Stella and I. Afterwards we usually do a little running around as A is with my Mom and Stepdad at a local cafe listening to a kiddo music man.
Anyway.
At OT this morning, I mentioned to Beth, our super OT, that Nicole, our teacher, had mentioned trying a squishy food on Stella's tray to see what she would do in the hopes that it would help her make the connection between picking up food and putting it in her mouth to eat it. Holy long and comma filled sentence.
Anyway. Beth said, "I think that's a great idea. We have pudding. Let's try it now." So. We did. I stripped her down while Beth grabbed the pudding and a spoon. She started by putting a dab or two of pudding on the tray. Stella had no issues with smearing that all around, but didn't put her hands in her mouth. Beth then spooned some in her mouth. You should have seen Stella's face!! She's was like, this is the
BOMB!! After that she started grabbing the spoon and sticking it in her mouth. LOL! She even tried to dip it into the pudding cup a few times ~ but she was only successful once or twice in getting the right side into the cup. At any rate, we deemed the experiment a success and I left with the instructions to give Stella pudding at every meal, in the same fashion, for a few days. Then we'll attempt to expand to other foods. I only wish I'd had my camera (which isn't working - BOO!) to take pics of my messy gal. I ended up washing her in the sink at the therapy place. LOL!
