In January of this year we had our 9 month check for Abby's scoliosis. In April of 2010 she had a 17 degree curve. This had improved from a 23 degree curve after 6 months of physical therapy. We were dissapointed to find that Abby's curve had grown from 17-34 degrees in 9 months.
At the time I wrote about it and posted xrays. View HERE. I was so upset. Within a day or two a mother of another girl with Rett Syndrome called me. She calmed my fears and recommended a regimen of Chiropractic care,stretching and massage therapy.
I immediately called Abby's caseworker and asked about it. Several phone calls to all the caseworkers and people who are there to help guide me in this and I started to think I was crazy. Everyone behaved as if I was asking for a Prince from Mars to appear at my door and perform complicated circus moved at the snap of my fingers. It was just Chiropractic and massage. Hello?? Not covered,dont know how to cover,dont know who to call. After several months of this and a refusal from the Pt at her school to increase her therapy and I realized I was on my own.
Long story short...Abby started Chirmpractic and massage therapy about 6 weeks ago. This video was taken last week. You can see that her before curve is already starting to improve. To look at her back directly after an adjustment then after a massage is mind blowing to me.
