A.F.O's = Ankle Foot Orthosis = 1 more shitty ordeal to contend with and have him go through.

Today Gage got fitted for his A.F.O's and they will be ready to be picked up in two weeks.
Maybe I will forget!
They let you pick a color, and a pattern, as though in doing so it may make you forget how shitty the whole ordeal is. Choosing the color and pattern did not make us forget that it will be a minimum of 1 year he will have to wear the god forsaken things for. Choosing the color and pattern also did not make me forget that it's just one more crappy thing to contend with. It seems as though, for me anyways, I seem to somehow comfort myself by doing countdowns by days when it comes to contending with all of Gage's issues. Minimum one year, for wearing A.F.O's = 365 days.
We chose a New York Yankee's symbol, and for the price of the little shitty things that are over $3500.00 I told the lady we should be able to choose gold plated ones if we so desired, or have them encased with a few diamonds.
Apparently getting shoes to fit over them will be another issue, "How freaking wonderful!", I thought.
Gage got to wear a knee high which they then put on his foot, then pulled it up to his knee, as I looked over at Scott (husband) he then retorted with "Jesus Christ, now him and Nana will get along even better", because he looked like Nana with that god forsaken knee high on. My wonderful husband has this amazing ability to be able to make me pee my pants with laughter when it is most needed! They then wrapped his little leg with the knee high still on (which we then kept reminding him he will not like to wear them when he is a really big boy.) with this thick red casting tape, it then hardened and formed to his foot, ankle, and calf, they then cut it off and will form his orthosis this way. Voila!
