A Couple of My Favorite Pics

Posted Apr 22 2008 12:00am
So, Gavin is traumatized by the N95 masks that he is required to wear pretty much anywhere on the hospital campus off of the oncology unit. The smallest size is still too big for his little face. It's either hitting his eyes or cutting him in the throat. We're requesting two things that we're hoping some of you could help us with
1. For those of you parents out there that have dealt with this same issue (and sadly, I know you're out there), what tips do you have?

2. A friend of ours (Fiona, to give full credit) suggested decorating some of them for Gavin. Perhaps then he could choose if he wanted to wear the "lion" one day, the "elephant" the next, etc. We're thinking this might be a challenge, as he still has to breathe through it (so the materials couldn't be "toxic" in nature). And I'm not sure you could sew things on it because the holes for the thread to go through may compromise the mask itself.

Any ideas?? We'll ask the oncology clinic staff tomorrow to see what might be allowable.

Thanks for brainstorming with us!!!
