what if I don't have surgery?

Posted by Prism

Do your symptoms just get worse and worse until you die?

Can you stop breathing from Chiari?

Can you lose the ability to speak?

Does it cause paralysis?

I have read until I cannot read any more. Please if someone would just give

us some straight answers, please.

How long has it been since you were diag? I was Diag in 1999. I have not had surgery. I have several symptoms but was able to continue working until late Sept. this year. Hope this helps
YES YOU GET SO BAD THAT LOOSE ALL MOTOR FUNCTIONS ANS TYOUR HEADACHES WILL INCREASE.  OR YOUR CHIARI MAY STOP GROWING. THEY THOUGHT MY CHIARI STOP GROWING; BUT THEY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHY SYMPTOMS WERE SLOWLY GETTING WORST.   MY NS SAID (AFTER A YEAR OF ME COMLAINING HOW BAD I WAS) THAT SHE WOULD DO THE SURGERY.  WELL SHE FOUNF OUT LIKE THE REST OF....EVEN THOUGHT MY CHIARI STOPPED AT 5MM IT STARTED GETTING FATTER AND FUZZING TOGETHER..PLUGGING EVERYTHING UP!!!!!  ALSO MY CEREBLUM WAS WORST OFF THAN SHE THOUGHT. BUT SHE DIDN'T KNOW ANY OF THIS UNTIL WENT TO DO THE SURGERY; BECAUSE NONE OF IT SHOWED ON THE MRI'S. YOU NEED TO MAKE UP...SUFFER GREATLY OR HAVE SOME OF A BETTER LIFE. THIS SURGERY HELPS WITH THE SYMTPOMS AND DO YOUR RESEARCH ON YOUR NS.
