Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

I have had shoulder pain on and off for probably 10 years. I never really know what sets it off? Sometimes I think maybe I have slept funny with my arm under my pillow. When I have the pain-like today- my shoulder hurts so bad I can hardly use my left arm. It's always my left shoulder maybe b/c I am left handed. It almost feels like my shoulder is "out" It doesn't feel like it is tracking right in there. I have gone to ER with it before but of course nothing was discovered. I was given something for pain and an arm sling.

We got 2 feet of snow here on Sunday! All in about 12 hours. This is a big deal on Vancouver Island as we rarely get snow at all and never this much. The little town I live in only has 1 snow plow so the town is literally at a stand still when this happens.

My husband and I were away for the weekend in Vancouver doing some shopping and going to his Christmas party. My husband works over in Vancouver and commutes home on weekends via the ferry (it's about a 90min boat ride). So I came home by myself Sunday night to find 2 feet of snow in the yard. I know very well I shouldn't do it but I had to get to the door to get in the house. So I did about 10minutes of shovelling so I could get in the house.

What a mistake, although I'm not sure how I could have avoided it, I did have to get in after all. I have ongoing cardiac issues and I thought I was having a heart attack. My heart was racing, pounding and skipping beats all over the place. I came directly in the door and laid down on the couch. I thought I was going to throw up, pass out or both. It eventually settled down.

But now I can't use my left arm due to shoulder pain. The pain came on the day after I shovelled so I'm sure it is b/c of the shovelling. I know it will settle down. Every page you read about syrinxes lists shoulder pain. I don't know if it is related to my syrinx or has something to do with EDS. It really does feel like it is out of alignment.

I guess some lessons are learned the hard way. After Sundays record snow fall we had a record rainfall. I think it rained about 20cm Sunday night and Monday, now the snow is completely gone. Rain isn't as pretty but it sure makes it easier to get in the house.
