No, I'm not referring to myself with the post title. I'm actually referring to my thyroid. As I've mentioned in a previous post, it was discovered that I only have half of my thyroid gland (the right lobe is intact but the left lobe is absent.) Because of this anomaly, I thought it would be worth getting some thyroid bloodwork done to see if my thyroid (or lack thereof) could be related to my symptoms at all.
The tests came back this week and according to the results, my one thyroid lobe is doing the work of two. All my levels are pretty much in the middle--nothing is outside the range of normal. So, I'm glad to hear that I have a super-duper single thyroid lobe. I guess a little part of me was hoping that something might be a little bit off, I could simply take some thyroid medicine, and feel a whole lot better. Unfortunately, it's looking more like my symptoms are still coming from the slow healing process and the brainstem compression from the odontoid pannus.
Too bad my brain isn't doing the work of two, though!
