The road to finding the proper medication/behavioral treatment for each child is very difficult. Each kid has a unique chemistry and it can take a lot of trial and error before you find the right match. Try to keep a daily chart of their behavior. especially when starting a new med. It will take time to get the dosage right and it's up to you to be vigilant and report back to the doctor with your findings. Keep in mind that medications are not magic, they will help with focus and perhaps with the fidgets, but there is a lot ahead of you.
It is a group effort to raise an ADHD child. The school, teachers, parents, grandparents, friends, relatives, doctors, child-care workers and neighbors, all need to be on the same page. It can feel overwhelming at first, but your not alone. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other.
Write down your concerns and questions as well as information about what your seeing with the med issues, then when you get with the doctor, you will have a good solid foundation to begin building on.
Good luck and please keep me posted on how it progresses.
