Pamela's Mini Cookie Fest

Posted Aug 23 2008 3:18pm

I had no idea where to start in on the huge box of Pamela's goodies I got. Which would I pick? Should I make something? Eat something? Nibble on some Chocolate Chip Cookies? Eat frosting?

In the end the Peanut decided for me.

She ripped open the bag of Mini Extreme Chocolate Cookies... It was decided. Mini-cookies.

I took the three varieties to-go in a baggie. I saw the movie Tropic Thunder (if you are easily offended- stay home. If not- FUN MOVIE!!!!) on Friday with my Taste Taster. I wanted him to try them because he loves cookies- especially chocolate ones. It was around midnight when we went to the movies, so we needed to get a little bit of a sugar rush. I packed myself a thermos with some rice milk and we hit the 24 hour Dunkin Donuts on the way to the movies.

While we waited for the coffee to cool off a bit- I opened up the bag of cookies. You would think after six months of explaining how my site works and what I do for companies Taste Tester would remember a few things, but alas.... he does not. Therefore after a brief explanation, we dug into the cookies...

The following is MY review of the cookies, then it's his turn.

Extreme Chocolate Mini Cookies:

Like the chocolate part of an Oreo. This was my favorite cookie! It was bite sized which may or may not be a good thing. If you are an Oreo fan, your bag of cookies will not last long. The cookie wasn't soft or chewy but it wasn't too hard and crunchy either. It was that middle road for a cookie that makes it perfect. I loved it. On the back of the bag there was a recipe idea to use the cookies as a cookie pie crust. I'm getting ideas for an "ice cream pie"... crushed up cookies, Earth Balance- let it sit. Add some Soy Delicious Mocha Almond Fudge, top with melted Enjoy life chocolate chips. Freeze. Then enter heaven.

Chocolate Chip Mini Cookie:

Chips Ahoy- beware! There is a mini version of you that is up and coming in the GF/DF world and will take over the cookie world!!!! How did Pamela's capture the flavor, texture, and quality of a Chips Ahoy cookie- without the gluten, dairy, trans fat, and long list of unnatural ingredients? Well, they did it! If you are longing for that same taste (admit it- you love it..) in a mini cookie run and buy these! It was incredible, I think that they tasted better than a Chips Ahoy. There were was just the right amount of chocolate chips. The cookie part was sweet and flavorful. REALLY GREAT COOKIE!!!!

Ginger Snap:

The Peanut's favorite. She loves Ginger Snaps and has eaten half the bag. I would discourage this usually- but then I would end up eating them all. I would have to change the blog theme to "How to Eat Cookies and Stay Skinny". The ginger snaps again- amazing. These were crunchy and sweet and spicy all at the same time. Pamela's has the sweet molasses flavor nailed along with the spicy ginger flavor. Like a crunchy gingerbread man!

Another recipe idea for Thanksgiving is to make a pumpkin pie with these cookies for a crust... oh YUM!

So my Taste Tester's review of the cookies was, "These cookies are freakin' good". He had NO IDEA they were dairy and gluten free. In fact, after he ate ALL of them, then he asked me, " So what's the deal with these cookies? Are they like healthy or something?" I respond, "they are wheat and dairy free." "GET outta here! No way!" "Yes" "WOW! Those were some awesome cookies." My Taste Tester is not food-allergic, but he certainly loves a good cookie!

Oh yea, go Pamela's! More reivews for them to come!
