Orginization Station

Posted May 18 2009 11:38pm
Well, the spring cleaning mood hit me today(although it is only 60 degrees here). I am looking forward to some warmer weather, but at least I don't mind staying in when it's chilly. Maybe I can get some projects done on these cooler days:) So, my daughter and I started cleaning out a very dreaded closet in my dining room. Boy were we in for it! My kitchen looked like a hurricane went through it. I've always heard that things usually get worse before they get better and that was definitely the case in my kitchen! We threw out all kinds of things that had been piling up and it feels so good to have a nice organized closet space with NO clutter.

One thing I have really been wanting to organize(for the last year!) are all my recipes from magazines, blogs etc. I have recipe overload and don't know what to do with them all! I am NOT typically a pack rat--except for magazines and books. They are my weakness:) I have about a million magazines stashed where ever I can find room. I don't want to get rid of them because they all have some really good recipes that I might want to try one of these years. Okay, I have tried a lot of them, but there is NO way I can try them ALL! So I have been thinking about ways that I could compile all of these tasty things into one notebook. Unfortunately, I haven't come up with a very good plan yet. I thought that maybe I could type them all into Word and print them and then categorize them, but that would probably take me longer than I care to even think about! I'm just wondering if anyone else has this 'problem'. How do you keep your recipes organized and in a handy dandy place that is easy to access at the spur of the moment--without having to dig under the bed for a magazine? I would LOVE to hear some of your suggestions and ideas. Please leave comments about what works for you. Or if you have any ideas that you haven't really tried but think would be helpful, I would love to hear that as well:)

I KNOW I am NOT the only one with recipe overload so please tell me how you do it!:)
Happy cooking everyone!
