They don't really, I just wanted a catchy title. I have been trying to lighten my hair for the last couple of weeks however, and I think I finally nailed it. It's definitely a chemistry experiment going from almost black to blond without turning red or orange somewhere in there! Now my hair is a nice dark blond color with a reddish tint. Quite lovely!
Last night, while the hair dye was plastered to my head I decided to whip up some Namaste Blondies! With chocolate chips of course. Can't have just regular blondies, gotta add some sweetness! The recipe called for 3 eggs, 1 cup of oil, and 1/4 cup of water. I decided to make them a LITTLE healthier. Instead of a full cup of oil, I used 1/2 cup of oil and 1/2 cup of applesauce. Then I used 2 eggs, and then 2 egg whites. Hopefully, this helped out a lot without affecting the yummy factor!
I set the oven to 350 and bam! 45 minutes later pulled out a perfect pan of blondies with mini-chocolate chips sprinkled in every bite.
The directions say to let them cool for 10 minutes, but I don't wait for things to cool so five minutes later I was digging into them to find out how it tasted with the applesauce and egg whites. YUM YUM YUM. I have made these before so I already knew that the full cup of oil made them a little on the "greasy side". The applesauce made them a tiny bit chewier but still moist and in NO way were they greasy. I think this will be the default way to make these babies from now on... I had one ... or two last night for dessert and they sure did hit the spot. Perfect for a party where you need something that is allergen free- but doesn't taste it! I can't wait to get home from work and have another one!
