HHAC: Things That Go Bump In the Night

Posted Aug 12 2008 4:21pm
The alarm was set for 5:30 this morning.

I went to bed after speaking to my sweetie at about 8:45.

Asleep by 9:30 or so...

When all of a sudden...

tug tug ... "Mommy can I sleep in bed with you?"

GRRRRMPH... what?! why what's the matter?

"There is something making noises in my room. It's scaring me..."

I look at the clock. It's 3:30 in the morning. I trot into the Peanut's room where the wind was blowing her window shade against the window. I shut the window and tuck her back into bed. I know well enough that I will NOT sleep with her in bed with me, this child kicks and shifts and rolls over every five minutes.

I head back into my room where I lay back down. And stare at the ceiling. I'm wide awake now. Great. I toss. I turn. I shut my window to drown out the sound of the birds. I go downstairs and eat a few animal crackers when I realize I am hungry along with being awake. I do deep breathing. I roll over and stare at the clock. It's now almost 5 in the morning. My alarm is due to go off soon and I am not feeling that getting up and running today is going to happen.

When I finally do get up it's 20 minutes after 6, and I slept pretty badly from about 5:30 on. So I do a brisk walk for 20 minutes on the treadmill, carrying 2lb weights, hoping it will up the calorie burn at least a little!

Here's to sleepless mommy nights!
