HHAC: Random Back Injury

Posted Aug 12 2008 4:21pm
Has this happened to anyone else? Your back is a little sore for a few days? Stress maybe... tiredness, sleeping on the wrong bed with the wrong pillow...any little thing really. And you take Tylenol for a few days and ease up on the workouts, cut down to walking fast for 45 minutes instead of running for 30, follow it up by super stretches. Then suddenly... you are shampooing your hair and WHAMO!!!! Every breath you take is painful. Moving your neck is agonizing and worst of all you can't turn your head. It hurts to sit, hurts to stand, hurts to load the diswasher. So you apply heat and ice, take more Tylenol and hope it goes away. After that you have your five year old march across your back hoping it gets cracked somehow. To no avail. You force yourself to go to bed early, only laying in bed to write a letter to your sweetie and falling asleep well before 9 pm. Then when your alarm goes off at 5:30, its like a miracle happened or at least the day before didn't happen. Kudos I guess to the power of Motrin! I'm like a whole new person!

I still took it easy this morning walking at a fairly brisk pace (about 4 mph) for 45 minutes. I followed this with some extra stretching, not taking any chances!

Here are some yoga poses I have done over the last few days to try to relieve the pain. I am hoping this had something to do with my "speedy" recovery!
